Have you ever seen this oddly satisfying videos about soap cutting?

If you have ever explored Instagram or Youtube you should probably see videos about soap cutting, delicious food, slime, foam, etc... People considered these videos the most satisfying thing ever, these videos have at least more than 1k views.

The trend emerged in the 2010s on the internet, a very famous page was "/r/oddlysatisfying" it was created in 2013 and for 2019 had 2.6 million subscribers. Crazy right?.

Soap cutting is basically what it sounds like: People cutting up bars of soap on camera.

The #soapcutting on Instagram have already 91,000 posts and shows people tiny soaps cut in a lot of different ways (rectangles, triangles, circles, etc)- And all this is for giving people the satisfaction of watching the tiny soap pieces drop.

The effect of watching this type of video has been described as a brain message like "self-care" to stop your anxiety or stress, in other words, people feel braingasms. Those people who experience ASMR feel pleasurable tingles in their bodies when they see or hear certain things. Can you believe it?

Well, let me tell you something... to produce one single piece of soap you will need approximately 300 ml of olive oil and 90-120 ml of water.

You take like one month to use 1 soap, but for these videos, they are using 5-7 soaps per gif or even more. That is actually wasting money and product.

I mean they use a lot of water to create 1 single soap.

It is unfortunate that even if it is one of the most satisfying things that I have seen in my life, people do not mind that this product however small it may involve a process that affects the planet Earth, since, various materials are used such as water oil among others.

What I want to imply with this is that many people simply do not realize that by wanting to be in a trend they damage the planet and waste their money.

Don't be stupid, just be conscious about what are you seeing, doing and buying.
